The last Messy Church was at 'Messy Christingle' in St German's before Christmas.
The next one is Sunday 1 March (1st Sunday of Lent and also St David's Day) at 4pm in St Saviour's
Everyone is always welcome. Our themes will look at different aspects of our Christian faith and life through craft activities, music and worship. We always end with food and fun.
St Saviour's and St German's Messy Church is a new way of being church that has been around modern church life for about 12 years or so. The main idea of Messy Church is to give to the people who live locally a format that is different and more accessible and suitable for modern lifestyles and modern pressures. At the heart of this is an acknowledgement that our traditional forms of worship can, sometimes, be inaccessible to many individuals and families.
Practically, when Messy Church meets it will be informal, family friendly, relaxed and with no long term pressures or commitments expected. We will meet once a month on a Sunday between 4-6 pm, initially in the church of St Saviour, on Splott Road and then in October in St German's Church in Adamsdown. Our hope is to expand this to the other Churches and faith communities of both Splott and Adamsdown on a monthly basis (one month in St Saviour's and the following month in St German's).
The central ideas behind Messy Church help us focus on becoming a place of welcome for all ages by offering a religious theme for the craft activities, a simple bible based message which will be rooted in gospel values that always remains open and accessible to everyone. Finally, it is an opportunity to build community and build up a community care for our neighbours and amongst our church members also.
Please join us or come and see what it is all about.
